Lady Rams lax too much for E-town

Game report and post-game player interview video submitted by Central Dauphin Rams Girls Lacrosse Team.

The Central Dauphin girls lacrosse team upped their record to an impressive 7-1 with a 15-11 victory over the Elizabethtown Lady Bears on Monday evening at Landis Field. In a hard-fought battle, the Bears stayed within striking distance throughout the game, but the Lady Rams were able to outlast the visitors with a strong defense and a deliberate offense.

With a close score in the early going, a determined CD senior attacker Skyler Oken took over the game with some timely goals and strong leadership in running the offensive sets. She ended up leading all scorers with six goals. Erin Zieber added three goals while Marley Kostelec and Rylee Gabrielson each aided their teammates scoring efforts with two assists.

Midfielders Haleigh Lackner and Sadie Smith played key roles in the win by allowing the Rams to consistently maintain ball possession through draw controls and ground ball pickups. Smith also took on the task of defending the Bears best offensive threat, shutting her down after some early success. Defenders Liza Szobacan and Hailey Pratt led a defense that turned the Bears away whenever they seemed to be mounting a comeback.

The JV team also had a successful night, chalking up a 10-2 victory over the JV Bears. Riley Yonchiuk led the younger Rams with two goals and seven draw controls.

Up next for the Rams is an away game at Hershey on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The field is located at 550 Homestead Road in Hershey. Both teams have a 2-0 Mid-Penn Keystone Division records, according to The (Carlisle) Sentinel.
