The Central Dauphin Rams basketball team’s turnaround season under first-year head coach Wayne Fletcher continued Friday with a stirring 67-63 win over the Harrisburg Cougars at a packed gym on Piketown Road.

CD boys attract big home crowd for Harrisburg game.

This win was the biggest victory for the Rams in years and serves notice to the rest of the Mid-Penn Commonwealth that this team is playing some top-shelf basketball.

The game was a back-and-forth affair that was knotted at 47 after three quarters. CD hit a series of clutch free throws in the closing seconds of the game to nail down the win.

Jaraud Smith led the way for the Rams with 14, followed by Tyrese Fuller 11, Niko Santiago 10, and Ryan Smith 9.

The win keeps the Rams (5-1 Mid-Penn Commonwealth, 8-2 overall) atop the conference standings with the Cumberland Valley Eagles. CV came up big tonight in overtime to edge the Central Dauphin East Panthers 69-66.

The loss pushes Harrisburg (4-2 Mid-Penn Commonwealth, 6-3 overall) back into second place in the conference standings.

The Rams go on the road Tuesday to face the Mifflin County Huskies in Lewistown.
