Lower Paxton Twp. Board of Supervisors meeting, 08.18.09 By SWAN Linglestown alley designated as a public road – After a public hearing, Ordinance 09-ll, accepting Blackberry Alley between North Mountain Road and Blue Mountain Parkway in the village of Linglestown as a public road, the township supervisors approved the measure by a vote of 4-0. Linglestown resident Patricia Dietrich expressed concerns about increased traffic, paving, and speeding. The alley provides access to the new municipal parking lot located behind the old church on Linglestown Road that up until recently was home to the Chocolate Cafe restaurant. The lot was constructed to offset parking spaces that will be eliminated by the upcoming village improvement project. The timing of the paving may depend on Resolution 09-38 below. – Resolution 09-38 was approved unanimously. This authorizes the submission of a Dauphin County Local Share Grant application for the funds to improve Blackberry and Raspberry alleys in the village of Linglestown. The grant program is funded with the county's share of revenue from the casino. Other topics – Under Public Comment, Deborah Battisti of the East Shore Branch of the Dauphin County Library System presented an update of the status of the East Shore Branch's operation. Included was a thank you to the supervisors for the use of the Friendship Center for some of the library's outreach programs. Battisti also noted that additional help might be needed in the near future for some of their programs during a library building renovation project. All supervisors offered positive comments on the quality of service at the library. – An amendment to the police collective bargaining agreement providing for 12-hour shifts was approved unanimously. – The supervisors agreed to settle AFSCME Grievance 90-2944-0108 unanimously. – The supervisors unanimously approved the low bid of Petroleum Traders Corp. for vehicle fuels.
