The Central Dauphin Rams girls lacrosse team rebounded from a tough mid-season stretch to win two games in a row. The Rams have improved their record to 9-4 and are well positioned to make the PIAA District III playoffs.

In their game against Red Lion on Thursday, the Lady Rams were able to regain their early season form and control the game from start to finish. In earning a 10-4 victory against the Lions, the CD produced a strong team effort on both sides of the field.

In a breakout game against the Lions, sophomore Julia Franklin provided a much needed spark to the offense and scored her first varsity goal of the year. The attack fed off of her energy and went on a second half run to put the game away.

Senior goalie Caroline Reichelderfer anchored a shutdown defense that held the Lions attack at bay for the entire game. Reichelderfer collected eight saves in picking up the win.

The Lady Rams continued their winning ways on Monday evening in Carlisle, dominating the Thundering Herd in a 16-2 win. From the opening draw until the final horn, the Rams were clicking in all facets of the game.

Senior Marley Kostelec was absolutely unstoppable on the attack side of the field as she netted five goals and added two assists before giving way to some of her younger teammates. Senior midfielder Erin Zieber produced her best all-around game of the year. Zieber scored five goals and an assist while playing shutdown defense on the other side of the field.

In their best overall team effort of the season, the defense was impenetrable as turned back the Herd’s attack time and again. Seniors Hailey Pratt and Emili Ihm, along with juniors Liza Szobocsan, Kayla “Q” McHugh, and Lexi McMinn absolutely shutdown the territory within the eight-meter arc.

The JV Rams also continued their dominant ways, improving their record to 11-2-1 with a 13-2 victory over Red Lion and an 11-4 victory over Carlisle. Julia Franklin and Riley Yonchiuk have led the way for the Junior Rams with six and four goals respectively.

The Rams host Penn Manor Wednesday evening. The JV will play at 4:00 p.m. and the Varsity at 5:30 p.m. at Central Dauphin High School’s sports complex located off of Piketown Road.
