The Central Dauphin Rams boys lacrosse squad was busy last week with three games, two in conference and one out of conference. Be sure to check out the player interview video at the bottom of this report.
On Tuesday, the Cumberland Valley Eagles proved to be a tough opponent as they rolled to a 14-5 conference win over the Rams.
CD took on the Lower Dauphin Falcons under the lights at Landis Field on Thursday night in the week’s spotlight game.
These two teams have been close competitors over the last few years and Thursday’s match-up was no exception.
CD scored first with a highlight-real worthy over the head backwards flick from Noah Gerard.
The first period ended with the teams tied at two goals apiece.
The Rams managed to build a comfortable lead in the second and third quarter with a five-goal differential. The score was 8-3 at that point.
LD was not going away quietly and battled back in the fourth quarter with significant possession time and good opportunities. CD was plagued with a number of penalties that let the Falcons control the game and cut the deficit to 9-7.
The last three minutes of the game saw frantic end-to-end possession changes. CD tried to take the air out of the ball and run the clock, while LD was pressuring to get a few tallies to tie it up.
CD held on to their two-point lead and the 9-7 score held up for their third win of the season and second win in Mid-Penn Keystone league.
CD did a good job on face-offs and ground balls for much of the game and points were well distributed among several players. Max Anderson led all scorers with four goals.
Other offensive contributors were Nick Koussis 2G, 1A; Kyle Mayberry 2A; Marco Bressi 2G; Derrick Hillman 1A; Noah Gerard 1G.
To wrap up the week, the Rams traveled to York County to take on non-conference foe Red Lion. They came up just short in this one, losing by a count of 9-8.
LOOKING AHEAD – The Rams will be back in action Tuesday for a 4 p.m. home game against Carlisle Thundering Herd.
The week’s second contest will be on the road Thursday for a night game in Dillsburg against the Northern Polar Bears. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The team’s record is 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference games.
