Story submitted by CD Rams boys lacrosse team
The Central Dauphin Rams traveled to Dillsburg last Thursday evening for a game against the Northern Polar Bears.
This match-up has been decided in overtime that last two year with CD claiming the victory in both of those contests. Thursday night’s game looked like it might be another close game with the teams tied at 4-4 in the second quarter, but then CD put their foot on the gas and Northern could never catch up.
Final score was CD 10 and Northern 6.
In a contest where CD was called for a number of technical penalties that resulted in changes in possession and was playing man down much more than their opponents, the defense and ground ball game was key to keeping the Rams in the lead.
Ground balls are the key to possessions and often times are a good indicator of who’s going to win the game. Ground ball leaders for the night were Kyle Mayberry and Derek Krug with four each and Matt Strickler with three. David DeSousa made nine saves in the net to keep the Polar Bears from getting back into game.
Offensive production came from a lot of different positions and people in the game. Brenden Yingling had two goals and two assists; Nick Koussis had three goals; Max Anderson one goal and two assists; Derrick Hillman one goal and two assists; Marco Bressi (aka Chris Dailey) one goal and one assist; Kyle Mayberry one goal; Reese Tyndale one goal.
